I've worked on this one for a couple of weeks....of course it was a wipe off a couple of times....the medium I used is very shiny. I like the way it looks in real life, but it's very hard to photograph. I also have been working on Christmas gifts.......We will be leaving for Ohio Saturday, so I hope I will have a little time to paint.
I started a couple of paintings last week while I was at the Art Market in St Petersburg, Florida. It was a real challange painting from the photograph, it's hard to remember the wonder reflections, especially in the shadows.

Just a quick look at the thought process of van Gogh, did he see emotions in color? ....in a letter from van Gogh to his friend Bernard. "You'll understand that this combination of yellow ochre, of green saddened with gray, of black lines that define the outlines, this gives rise, a little to the feeling of anxiety from which some of my companions in misfortune often suffer, and which is called "seeing red".
My name is Mary Spires, I started painting in 1991 after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer. They give you the "5 year plan", if you're here in 5 you may make it! So I quite my job, started taking classes in watercolor. As they say "the rest is history". Sometimes, out of the blue life gives you a gift. Mine has been painting and teaching for the last 17 years. March 1, 2007, I stated my blog.I have been playing around with oil painting, but my main interest was watercolors. After reading all those art books on "how to paint in oils" it really came down to practice, practice, and more practice! So many people say it's about talent, but it truly is about developing the "skill". So this is my reason for painting small daily painting.
