From my Sketchbook

Lets take an adventure with our sketchbook!  

Join me for this exciting online Workshop.  We will take daily adventures into a loose, quick journal format style of sketching and painting.  We will use daily "adventures" to create a beautiful, creative and inspiring sketchbook. Our first week we will travel to the Farmers Market to explore Fruits - Vegetables.  Our adventure will continue for 4 weeks traveling into a Botanical Garden of Herbs - Flowers, discover how to draw your favorite things in week 3 and in the final week we will take a "Spring Break" discovering the Beach.
Each week you'll receive an email which will link you to that weeks adventure.  The "lesson" is available 24/7 and you will receive a downloadable  step-by-step "map" for traveling to that weeks lesson.  There will be videos and examples from my sketchbook to support the lessons.  Just like a real workshop you will be able to see fellow students sketchbook pages and you will be able to post your own sketchbook pages (only if you want to share).  I will follow up each week with comments and suggestions on that weeks project.

This class is designed for beginners, but all levels are welcome.  The class will run for 4 weeks for a cost of $49.00, registration begins March 1, 2014.

12" x 12" Oil on Canvas SOLD The challenge today was to paint RED ! How many reds in the paint world are there! Well I think a lot!!!!! I had at least 6 tubes out ........the transparent  of the skin was the hardest to get.....I love the yummy reds against the cools of the table cloth.  I added a little light green, but it didn't show up in the photograph.  This painting is much better than the picture.... you can't see the impressionist colors juxtapose together.   Anyone doing the challenge can't help but get better......what fun!  Thanks Leslie!

Good Start to the New Year

Started my new year off really great.....fell on the ice after watching Ohio State win the Rose Bowl.....broke my leg in two places!!! #@$%^!@### (stone sober, it would make it go down better if I had had a few) We had to delay our trip back to Florida....hope to get down there in the next couple of weeks........

10 x 8 Oil on Canvas Board Last year I was lucky enough to see a demo by David Leffel. I am total hooked on Chiaroscuro Style painting. "Chiaroscuro" literally means light/dark. In Chiaroscuro painting, your eye follows the light. The light gives the picture its flow-it takes the eye from one place to another, and the shadows structure the painting.
